He’s playing for poker history next summer, but Loren Klein has a field of Reno players to deal with right now.
Klein just lost a race AK < JJ to Shawn Daniels to be eliminated from Table 7 in the $200,000 Guarantee Ante Up Poker Tour Reno $1100 Main Event.
Back to the registration desk he goes, back to the same seat at Table 7 he returns, followed by a re-entry from Valerie Hanley to join Josh Prager and Gerry Morrell also at Table 7.
So, this poker history thing?
Klein has won a WSOP bracelet each of the last three years – 2016 $1500 Mix; 2017 $1500 PLO; 2018 $10,000 PLO (for a milly-cash).
A bracelet in 2019 makes Klein the first person since 1979 to win a bracelet in four consecutive years.
Who was that person? Somebody named Doyle Brunson.
Klein’s resume also includes back-to-back main event wins in the first two years of Jason Somerville’s RunItUp Reno classic among his 42.7 million in career tournament earnings.
Will four bracelets in four years be a bigger deal than night, when Klein won the $160 buy-in 8-Game Mix here, playing Drawmaha and Tahoe Pitch-n-Roll for a $1,956 cash (otherwise known as two-tenths of one percent of what he earned for winning the $10k PLO bracelet)
