AlexOptional Green won the very first event in the 2021 Prime Social Houston Summer Series, then had to sweat the final hands of the final event before he knew he secured the $25,000 Added Player of the Series title.
The player of the series race ran through all 16 Houston tournaments, $10,000 to Green with the top-25 players overall receiving a cash payout. Green earned the largest payday of his poker tournament career – $45,600 – winning the 1,202-entry $360 series Kickoff. He followed that with a runner-up to DJ Alexander in the 8 Hours and Time’s Up and three more tournament cashes, plus winning three main event satellite seats for his 121 player of the series points.
Sung Kim finished just 4.5 points back of Green, with Sonny Sundara making a late charge to finish third, one point back of Kim. Kim receives $3,500 and Sundara $2,000, with Tai Cao fourth for $1,000 just 2 points back of Sundara.
The race was so close that Sundara – third in the final series event Sunday night – and Green would have tied if Sundara finished second in the $25k GTD $360 Send Off, and would have won the title with the final event win.
