Ari Engel came to the Season XIII Heartland Poker Tour $2500 Championship at Ameristar St. Charles needing to win outright – and have everyone in the top-10 fail to cash – for him to win the HPT Player of the Year award.

Everything above happened and Engel walked off with win the $162,154 first palce prize and also entries in to six HPT Main Events of his choice next year as their Season XIII Player of the Year.

Engel defeated Jake Bazeley heads-up FTW, with Bazeley earning $102,647 as runner-up in the 316-entry tournament.
