James Carroll defeats a 468-entry field to earn the win in the inaugural Texas Poker Championship $5,300 Main Event at Prime Poker Social Club in Houston. Carroll earns $455,860 for his huge heads-up comeback against Nick Howard to secure the victory.
Carroll began heads-up play a 5-1 dog and quickly flipped the tables on Howard, gaining control early and running to victory. Howard earns $303,930 as runner-up.
The tournament was the largest buy-in and the $2 Million Guarantee was also the largest ever offered in sanctioned Texas Poker history. The series itself paid out more than $4.5 million, making the entire series the biggest Texas has ever seen.
