Is there more pressure on the ones chasing or the one being chased?
David Covarrubias leads the Series Champion race with only the Main Event left. Based on turnout so far, it appears winner of the Main Event is going to earn 120 points. This means seven players have a chance to overtake Covarrubias and win the title.
If Covarrubias cashes in the Main, those odds slip further and further away, but for now, play along and see what’s needed if David misses the money.
Must-win to take title:
Nabil Esho (7th); Justin Moore (6th) Vincent Chung (5th); Ray Blair (4th). A 2nd-place finish by Blair leaves him 1 point from the title.
1st or 2nd to win:
Joseph Dudek (3rd). A 3rd-place finish leaves Dudek 4 points shy of a win.
Then there is Federico Ayala, just 23 points back of Covarrubias. he can take the title if Covarrubias does not cash and Ayala finishes 14th or better. Covarrubias can only close out Ayala by finishing 2nd in the Main Event, so the race is going to be alive as long as these two make the money on Sunday.
So far, neither has made Day 2. Esho is the only player alive in the Series Champion race who is already in Day 2.
