David Covarrubias is the winner of the $230 Mexican Poker in the Turlock Poker Room 15th Anniversary Championship Series.
David Covarrubias was one card away from finishing 6th and out of the money in tonight’s $230 Mexican Poker. Catching two pair to eliminate the other two players in that hand gave Covarrubias the overwhelming chip lead that he held on to for the win.
Covarrubias – with the win – moves to 250 Series Champion points and the top spot on the leaderboard with only the $550 Main Event remaining.
Although final Main Event points numbers are not going to be available until registration closes on Saturday, it appears the Series Champion race is going to between the top 8 players remaining – Covarrubias, Federico Ayala, Joseph Dudek, Ray Blair, Vincent Chung, Justin Moore, Jerry Utke and today’s Omaha 8 winner Nabil Esho.
Here’s tonight’s final results.
