Aaron Johnson – who led the Heartland Poker Tour Player of the Year race for about half of the season – secured the title at the very last table of Season XIV by finishing 6th in the $2,500 Season Championship at Ameristar East Chicago.
Johnson needed an 8th place or better to take the lead, then had a sweat as Jim Kasputis could have overtaken him with a 1st-place finish in the Season Championship.
Johnson earns $10,000 in Season XV HPT Main Event entries and hotel accommodations at the locations he opts to use his entries.
