As legends go, the Legend of the Food Coma may not exactly be at the top of most anyone’s BestLegends list, MostWellKnownLegends list, or any list.
However, it is alive and well tonight here in Reno in Day 1A of the $200,000 Guaranteed Ante Up Reno $1,100 Main Event.
35 players returned from dinner break, and only 27 remain after one 40-minute level. that’s more than 23 percent of the entire remaining field gone in just one level.
The Legend of the Food Come dictates 17-20 percent of a main event field disappear in the first level post-dinner. Rumor has it the players work hard for 6+ hours, go off for a nice meal, come back full-n-happy and get a tad too relaxed, make a less-than-optimal play or two and suddenly their stack is dust.
Others, like Herman Dodd, run set in to set and understandably vanish for the night.
The field is 17 eliminations away from end of play for Day 1A.
