Pushing his career poker tournament earnings to almost $1 million, BJ McBrayer won the Heartland Poker Tour’s $1,100 Main Event at Ameristar Vicksburg in Mississippi.

McBrayer was mid-pack through much of the final table, gaining his lead late, then he nearly ended the tournament three hands in to heads-up play against James Patrick. Ahead pre-flop and with a 7-1 chiplead to start heads-up play, McBrayer seemed on his way to a quick victory.

Well, you see, what happened was … Patrick doubled, doubled again, came back to take the chiplead, and eventually fell to McBrayer in a heads-up match that lasted more than two full hours.
