John Nethery used the biggest single pot of the tournament so far to propel himself to the top stack from the 14 players advancing out of Day 1B and on to Day 2 in the Ante Up Reno $1,100 Main Event.
Nethery’s Kings coolered the Queens of John Miner in a half-million-chip pot about 90 minutes before the end of play, sending Nethery to a 637,500 bag and the overall chiplead when Day 2 begins tomorrow at Noon. Everyone begins play tomorrow in the money.
Four-time WSOP bracelet winner (and three-time Reno casinos Main Event winner) Loren Klein put on a clinic on BigStack Bullying, destroying the stacks of those within betting distance the final three levels, bagging 459,500, good for the No. 2 stack in Day 1B and the No. 2 stack tomorrow.
Among the players who came out for Day 1B but saw their Ante Up Reno Main Event come to a close without a Day2Bag was Eric Baldwin, Ian Steinman, josh Prager, Steve Nevius, Bill Watchman, Shawn Van Asdale, Kevin O’Donnell, Loren Cloninger, Marty Gorenc, Arturo Segura, Hong Zhang, Noel Rodriguez, Harlan Karnofsky, Billy Casey and Chris Hinchcliffe.
Day 1B played 16 minutes faster than Friday’s Day 1A, something I have not seen in a multi-flight tournament in more than five years. The final flight of any multi-flight ALWAYS takes longer.
Well, you see, what happened was … last night’s players went FullKessler for the last two hours.
