The remainder of the Fall Pot Of Gold series at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno has been canceled as the guarantees were not being met.
“It was canceled due to low participation and low expectations for the final, and property management decided to cancel,” said poker room manager Charles Williams, “but we are going to still keep doing tournaments.”
The Pot Of Gold series opened with a $260 buy-in with a $100,000 guarantee and the guarantee was missed by a substantial amount. There were 5 Day 1-flights but turnout was below expectations for each flight.
Poker and casino staff are discussing whether the Winter Pot Of Gold will be held in December but there is a commitment to tournament poker and to the March 2014 event, the annual World Poker Challenge.
