Oman Takes Title in 1,414-entry tourney

All-time tournament records at TVPokerRoom were crushed as the final WPT DeepStacks Main Event in the tour’s history came to a close Sunday night, the final five players dividing up the remaining money and Carl Oman claiming the win.

The $1 Million Guarantee $1,500 tournament drew a massive 1,414 entries, creating a $1,873,550 prize pool – all far beyond any tournament ever held in the poker room at Thunder Valley Resort in northern California. The final starting flight’s 705 entries is the largest turnout for a single tournament or flight at any buy-in in the room’s nine-year history.

Oman collected $188,139 in the five-way deal bringing the tournament to its conclusion. Kevin O’Donnell ($177,140), Catherine Miller ($170,963), Nabil Zumout ($158,557) and Matt Boddorf ($151,751) rounded out the final five. Miller’s payout is the largest amount a female player has ever won at TVPokerRoom. Adding to the records, the $846k paid out to the last five is $140k more than the previous largest full-field payout ($705k) for a WPTDS main event at TVPokerRoom.

The WPT DeepStacks brand comes to an end with the conclusion of this series, rebranded now as WPT Prime. With his win, Oman also received the WPT Player of the Festival title and its prize of a $1,100 WPT Prime entry to any event of his choice through the end of 2022.

TVPokerRoom held numerous satellites, qualifying more than 200 players for the $1 Million Guarantee tournament, adding greatly to the overall turnout. The guarantee was covered before cards went in the air for Saturday’s final starting flight.

The entire series set records at TVPokerRoom, with more than $3 million being paid out and the house-signature event – $250,000 Guaranteed $460 Monolith – also topping 1,400 entries. The poker room runs 1+1 entry events rather than unlimited-entry events, filling the 46 tables constantly throughout the series with tournament players.
