Alan Mastic is the Player of the Series in Successful Peppermill Palooza Fall Series

The Peppermill Poker Palooza Fall tournament series has come to a close in Reno, Nevada, and many big winners were crowned over the course of nearly 20 events. All of the guaranteed prize pools were met during the course of the series, which was impressive with the World Series of Poker Circuit hosting a competing event just 40 miles way in neighboring Lake Tahoe at the same time.

The $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em Main Event attracted a field of 358 entries, and created a prize pool worth $322,000 to top the $300,000 guarantee. The top 51 players took home at least $2,000 in prize money. The player who took home the top prize of $70,000 was Shingo Lavine from Reno with his pup Daisy in tow.

He topped a final table that included some big names including Brett Murray (third) and Victor Paredes (fourth). Lavine took out both of those players en route to a 4-1 chip advantage over Timothy Boerum to start the heads-up final.

The final hand saw Lavine flop the nut straight, and that was more than enough to send Boerum to the rail in second place with a payday worth $45,000 along with a founders coin. In addition to the top prize money, Shingo was awarded the large Main Event trophy, the winner’s medal, and a founders coin. You can see all of the results for the Main Event right here.

The Player of the Series race came down to a handful of local Reno players vying for the title of All Around Champion. In the end Alan Mastic scored 898 points to top the 826 points held by Ty Kohler and 729 points of Jacqui Newman in third. Mastic and Newman were at or near the top of the leaderboard throughout the series, and Mastic locked up the top spot worth $15,000 with a final-table appearance in the $250 PKO event. Mastic also won the $250 Monster Stack on the opening weekend of the series. pokerliveupdates.com founder Dan Ross was awarded Team Member of the Series, receiving a silver founders coin and $500. Other notable winners from the series that added to their six-figure career tournament earnings included Joseph Mussat ($250 NLHE/PLO), John Andlovec ($250 NLHE Bounty), and Zachary Smith ($250 NLHE Win the Button Deepstack).
