Officials from the California Department of Justice tonight served notice and closed all gaming activities at Towers Casino in Grass Valley, for opening before state quarantine restrictions had been lifted.

Video from the scene posted to Facebook appears to show the owner of the cardroom in a mildly heated debate with state DOJ officials over the order, arguing she should be allowed to keep her bar area open while closing all gambling activity – the poker tables and the California Blackjack tables in action.

Roland Brizuela was a patron participating in the one $1/$3 NLH game when state DOJ officials arrived.

“I was sitting (facing) directly to the entrance. Soon they came in. I said to myself WTF! We have time to make fun while they talk to the owner,” Brizuela stated via Twitter. “We didn’t really pay attention to those DOJ. Players made fun of them, here’s the guy you are looking for, pointing at me.”

Towers Casino – a small 6-table cardroom, opened yesterday ahead of Governor Gavin Newsom’s declarations on what types of businesses in the state could be in operation now.
