Subscription poker website grrrinders.com — having severe money issues for most of 2012 — announced today it is ceasing operations. Members of the legal U.S. online poker site were notified early Wednesday afternoon via email by website management.

“Grrrinders will no longer be able to offer subscriptions style games and is closing down the operation.” The email header reads “Grrrinders to cease operations 10/18/12.”

Players on the website had access Wednesday, and were talking in the site’s chatroom about what would happen next. Many are using a Facebook page to try and be sure they stay in contact with those they play with on the small online poker website.

Most players are asking questions about whether they will receive the money they’ve won on the site. Some players have been waiting weeks for a check, while a few have money owed that dates back to late 2011.

This year’s World Series of Poker brought about a major payment issue with the site, where more than 20 players who had won $1,000 WSOP tournament seats showed to receive their check from site owner David Webb. Webb, however, left Las Vegas before paying most of the players and it took months for the players to get most of their money. HoldemRadio.com wrote a recap of of those events, you can find that here.

Former Grrrinders.com players have a forum set up here at holdemradio.com to stay in touch with friends made while playing on the site.

The site stayed up until Monday morning, although no tournaments were available after the last set early Friday morning.
