Vo, third in the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown in Florida last month, came back home to Houston and earned his first major in his hometown in a rather dominant fashion. Vo was rarely seriously challenged throughout Day 2, his stack never in danger, and his final table play kept him at or near the top of the stacks all night.
The 1,459-entry tournament was the largest entry and prize pool for an $1,100 buy-in in Texas state sanctioned poker tournament history. Players were anxious to take a shot at satellite seats, with 217 seats won to the event. The overall series also set a state record with more than $3.1 million in total payouts.
