Wendy Freedman dominated play at the Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at Gates Poker Room in Black Hawk CO on Monday, becoming the first woman to win a HPT title in more than five years.
Freedman surpassed the $1,000,000 mark in career earnings with her first-place prize of $167,696. She went set-over-set to take down Mark Morris on the final hand at the final table. Freedman joins Teresa Hemingway as the only two women to win the HPT Black Hawk title. Hemingway won in 2013 and was the last female HPT champion.
Using a style on constant pressure on her challengers, Freedman regularly placed her tablemates in spots where their next move was for their tournament life. In the process she eliminated five of her eight challenger.
Here our full recap of the final table and all the live tournament reporting we provided for the HPT Black Hawk Main Event.
