May 31 – July 20 at Horseshoe and Paris in las Vegas
Summer Camp dates are now set for May 31-July 20 as the WSOP announces dates for its 53rd annual series. There’s a ton of events to highlight on the full daily schedule, so let’s look at some of the major ones right now.
$5 Milly GTD to start
Action kicks off opening weekend with a $5 Million Guaranteed $500 ‘Housewarming,’ announcing the move of the WSOP from the Rio (17 years there) out to the Las Vegas Strip and the shared convention space for Paris and the rebranded Horseshoe (today known as Bally’s). Starting flights are June 2-4.
Top Mystery Bounty is a Milly
$1,000 to enter, held July 2-4 (as the Main Event starts),make Day 2 and players in the Mystery Bounty have a shot at the top bounty payout of $1,000,000. Congrats to the Wynn for cementing this format as a must-have is any major tournament series, here’s to the WSOP for understanding its place as the 800-lb Gorilla allows for a prize pool big enough to offer a Milly for one bounty.
Main Event July 3-16
The $10,000 Main Event freezeout is set for July 3-16, its four starting flights July 3-6, and that definitely has me thinking of playing the final flight on my birthday. the schedule is set to play down to the final table on July 14, then a two-day final table July 15-16.
What about COVID?
I’ll just quote directly from the WSOP announcement for the existing COVID-19 guidelines.
“The WSOP will follow local, state and CDC guidelines relating to COVID-19 that are in effect during the event. While there will be no vaccination requirement to play in the tournament, players will be accountable to follow CDC guidelines appropriate to them as individuals.” Again, this is a direct quote from the WSOP press release.
Circuit Ring Winners Freeroll set
Every person winning a WSOP Circuit ring this season wins an entry in the $1 Million GTD Tournament of Champions freeroll. The dates are now set for July 18-20, the final three days of the 2022 WSOP.
