A Texas county Grand Jury declined to move forward any charges at all against the Lodge Card Club in Round Rock, TX, (near Austin) ending the drama surrounding what might happen to all the Membership Clubs offering poker throughout the Lone Star State.
Doug Polk – one of the primary owners of the club – announced Tuesday via his socal media feeds the Williamson County Grand Jury heard testimony, reviewed county evidence, and came to the conclusion no charges would come from the investigation into the card club’s operations.
“The seized money and equipment will be returned and we will reopen as quickly as possible, hopefully within a few weeks,” Polk posted.
All card club staff were fired back in late March, leaving employees scrambling for help while Polk promised to make sure player funds would be covered. Polk made a donation to a GoFundMe to help staff, committing $10,000 to staff while committing potentially hundreds of thousands to club patrons.
Less than 20 mminutes away from the Lodge, Texas Card House Austin has been home the last 10 days to the first-ever WSOP Circuit series in Texas, drawing massive turnouts.
