Bill Harrah opened a casino named after himself in Reno in 1937. Harrah’s went on to buy Caesars Entertainment decades later. 82 years after its beginning, Eldorado – right across the street from Harrah’s Reno – is buying Caesars, bringing the company back to the city where it began.
Eldorado and Caesars executives formally announced the merger today, a total $17.3 billion merger creating the largest US gaming entity.
Among the businesses acquired in the merger in the World Series of Poker that began in Reno in 1970, relocating to Las Vegas one year later.
